Some of the things that come to mind when thinking of Derek are his ninja-like skills with wit and humour, his mastery of BBQ’s and bonfires, his thoughtful and analytical mind and his generous nature. Took me quite some time to work out when he was pulling my leg and I was never confident that I'd worked it out even when I spotted the twinkle in his eyes!!!
